Hot pear, bacon and blue cheese salad

Hot pear, bacon and blue cheese salad, served with a Monty Real Bread crusty baguette and a glass of Monty's Moonrise

Last year whilst Pam from Monty's Brewery was doing a cheese and beer pairing, this recipe was created!

Ingredients:

  • 2 x firm pears
  • Mixed salad leaves
  • Neuadd Fach unsmoked streaky bacon
  • Blue cheese (ok, so a Shropshire Blue works well)
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • Monty Real Bread crusty baguette
  • Monty's Moonrise 4% traditional bitter

Cut each pear into 8 slices and brown them gently in a frying pan. Place them in a bowl

Fry the Neuadd Fach bacon until crispy and add them to the pears.

Crumble pieces of blue cheese over the bacon and pears

In the frying pan, add the oil, vinegar and mustard and heat gently, stir to gather all the bits from the pan.

Pour the dressing over the pear, bacon and cheese so that the edges of the cheese just starts to melt.

Spoon this mixture over the salad leaves and serve with some of Monty's Real Bread fantastic crusty baguettes and a glass of Monty's Moonrise
