Great Success For Taste Montgomery At The Welsh Food Festival

Despite the forecast of rain diminishing the numbers on Saturday, Sunday more than compensated and this year’s Welsh Food Festival at Glansevern attracted one of the largest attendances ever.

This may have had something to do with the introduction of the Taste Montgomery marquee which was buzzing all weekend! Situated in the lakeside area in front of the house, it proved a real draw for local people and visitors wanting to sample local fare and get a genuine Welsh Food experience. Helping to add to the festive spirit was Montgomery’s town crier, Sue Blower, who handed out free samples of produce for visitors to taste and enjoy.
The marquee housed a selection of our producers and a free prize draw of wonderful taste montgomery produce, as well as many vouchers for hospitality and produce. The lucky winners are: T Watson, D Bennett, R Rees, P Quayle, S Allen, T Webb, J Kewley, I Savage, G Wright and J Jackaman. We also had members with independent stalls dotted around the wonderful grounds.

A new initiative to promote Montgomery's outstanding home-grown assets to both locals and tourists has been launched this week. The town's local food and drink producers, retailers and hospitality providers have all joined together to introduce 'Taste Montgomery'.
'Taste Montgomery' is a new venture initiated by Glasu's Taste of Powys project with funding through the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013, which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. Glasu's Liz Morrison explains, "Montgomery has an exceptionally high volume of award winning local producers and high quality hospitality providers – it really is a place worth visiting. We are pleased to support Montgomery's thriving business community and help promote the town as an outstanding food destination."
